Beckaert Allergy Treatment

Beckaert textiles has been getting great reviews and winning awards for its new innovated line of allergy free bedding products which are designed for those with dust mite allergies. Beckaert has developed a completely new way to control dust mites in bedding material and improve overall bedding hygiene, improving sleep quality for many.
Fighting Dust Mites Naturally
In the past most allergy free bedding has focused on sealing off dust mites from their food source. This was done by tightly weaving bedding materials on pillow cases, mattress covers and other bedding so dead skin and mites could not easily fit through the material. Beckaert treats its allergy free bedding mattress ticking with its patented Purotex which contains bacteria friendly micro organisms designed to fight dust mites, moisture and mold.
These micro organisms are released from the mattress by the friction of the sleeper at night. Once released the friendly bacteria eat up any dust mite excrement, dead skin and absorb moisture which dust mites and molds thrive on. When dust mites are denied a food source their population begins to dwindle as the conditions they like are no longer present. The friendly bacteria population is also self regulating and will also control bad odours. The technology is similar to nano technology which is expected to lead to a number of breakthroughs in the years ahead.

With allergies on the rise and the threat of a global pandemic constantly looming making mainstream news headlines, face masks could be the next fashion trend. For years face masks have been popular in Asia, where people do not stop and stare at someone wearing a mask but instead consider it a sign of manners and not wanting to spread germs. You will even see children in Japan wearing designers mask with cartoon characters on them.
Face masks range in price from a few pennies per mask for disposables all the way up to hundreds for more complex military style face masks. They can also be found in a variety of different colors. People who chose to wear a mask do so for a variety of reasons. Some wear them not to spread their germs or be exposed to others germs, while others wear them in a attempt to protect against chemical fumes, pet dander, pollen allergens, smoke, smog, dust and bacteria.
Just how effective these masks are against very small particles depends on the type of mask and who you ask. Some less expensive masks use a carbon type filter while more expensive non disposable mask often rely on a HEPA filter system. These HEPA masks are more effective but are less portable for someone looking to carry a mask around in their pocket.
Whether we start seeing more people wearing masks in North America may just be a matter of time and marketing. I have noticed a lot of bike couriers wearing them in the downtown area but not many in the general public.

Hypoallergenic Toothpaste
Filed Under Allergy Products | Leave a Comment
Well I decided to give a more natural toothpaste a try a month ago. I had always just used what ever was on sale not putting much thought into the branding as I figured crest, colgate and aquafresh were all doing a good job. I have been lucky as I have only had one cavity my whole life but lately I began worrying more about fluoride and other chemicals in toothpaste. There is much debate about fluoride in toothpaste and if it is helpful or harmful. You can google it for information and I encourage you to research both sides of the debate.
Perhaps putting a title like hypoallergenic toothpaste is incorrect as while shopping for a natural toothpaste you will notice some of them contain a longer list of ingredients than popular consumer brands. A toothpaste allergy and symptoms that are sometimes blamed on the ingredients of commercial toothpaste could also be triggered by the exotic ingredients of natural brands. The toothpaste I purchased contained tea tree oil, cinnamon, grapefruit seed and aloe vera to name a few. Its possible you may not have been exposed to them before and they could cause a allergy. If you’re looking for a hypoallergenic toothpaste you probably want one with the fewest ingredients.
All things considered I would rather go with a natural solution provided it still does the job and cleans your teeth as well. I am no dentist but after a few weeks use it seems to be doing a okay job. For a more educated opinion you may want to ask your dentist about using a natural toothpaste.

More Allergy Free Indoor Air
Filed Under Allergy Products | Leave a Comment
Last article I wrote about the air quality in cars but no where is clean air
more important than in your home. Now more than ever people are spending more time indoors than generations before them. One way to ensure better air quality is maintaining furnace and air conditioner filters.
When it comes to filters there are two choices, disposable and permanent. When you consider that many allergens, dust and dander particles are very small under 10 microns, filter quality is important. A Permanent filter will cost you more as a original investment but many carry life time warranties so they save you money in the long run. It just stands to reason that a filter that is suppose to be permanent would be made to a better quality than a disposable which is used a few months and then thrown away.
I also think that a permanent filter will lead to cleaner air overall. A person is much more likely to maintain a filter when they just need to take it out and clean it than running out and buying a new disposable filter when needed. The worst thing you can do with a permanent filter is not clean it as required. Not only will a clogged filter stop keeping all those nasty allergens out of the air but the filter may actually become damaged. Fortunately most filters are easily cleaned with water, see the filters instructions for exact details.
