Hypoallergenic Toothpaste
Well I decided to give a more natural toothpaste a try a month ago. I had always just used what ever was on sale not putting much thought into the branding as I figured crest, colgate and aquafresh were all doing a good job. I have been lucky as I have only had one cavity my whole life but lately I began worrying more about fluoride and other chemicals in toothpaste. There is much debate about fluoride in toothpaste and if it is helpful or harmful. You can google it for information and I encourage you to research both sides of the debate.
Perhaps putting a title like hypoallergenic toothpaste is incorrect as while shopping for a natural toothpaste you will notice some of them contain a longer list of ingredients than popular consumer brands. A toothpaste allergy and symptoms that are sometimes blamed on the ingredients of commercial toothpaste could also be triggered by the exotic ingredients of natural brands. The toothpaste I purchased contained tea tree oil, cinnamon, grapefruit seed and aloe vera to name a few. Its possible you may not have been exposed to them before and they could cause a allergy. If you’re looking for a hypoallergenic toothpaste you probably want one with the fewest ingredients.
All things considered I would rather go with a natural solution provided it still does the job and cleans your teeth as well. I am no dentist but after a few weeks use it seems to be doing a okay job. For a more educated opinion you may want to ask your dentist about using a natural toothpaste.
